As of 9:00am EST this morning, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Las Vegas 51s @ Tacoma Rainiers, 4:30pm EST
Matt Fox (2-2, 5.32 ERA) vs. Brandon Maurer (2-1, 3.33 ERA)
The 51s send Matt Fox to the hill this afternoon to try and take the series from the Rainiers before they had back home to Cashman Field. The right-hander last pitched against Salt Lake on June 24th. He earned a no decision, allowing two runs on nine hits, no walks, and two strikeouts in six innings pitched. Despite pitching to a 6.92 road ERA in five starts (26 innings pitched), all of Fox’s decisions have come away from Cashman Field.
Trenton Thunder @ Binghamton Mets, 1:05pm EST
Michael Pineda (1-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Noah Syndergaard (1-0, 3.00 ERA)
Syndergaard got the good news that he and fellow top pitching prospect Rafael Montero will be headed to Citi Field for the MLB Futures Game during All-Star weekend. He’ll look to continue impressing the B-Mets coaching staff in today’s finale against the Thunder. He allowed two runs on five hits, one walk, and seven strikeouts through six innings pitched against Erie, winning his Double-A debut.
St. Lucie Mets @ Fort Myers Miracle 4:05pm EST
Rainy Lara (2-2, 2.10 ERA) vs. Jason Wheeler (6-3, 4.78 ERA)
After losing two of his first three starts in Advanced-A, Lara has won his last two. His last appearance came on June 25th against Bradenton, when he threw 5.2 shutout innings, allowing five hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts. He’s been pitching well since he was promoted from Savannah, but is walking more hitters with St. Lucie. In 50.2 Sally League innings pitched, he walked six men, while striking out 51. With St. Lucie, he’s walked six and struck out 29 in 30 innings pitched.
Rome Braves @ Savannah Sand Gnats, 2:05pm EST
Wes Parsons (2-4, 4.08 ERA) vs. Luis Cessa (4-2, 3.30 ERA)
Cessa turned in his second-straight seven-inning performance on June 23rd against Lexington, but wasn’t able to come away with a victory. The right-hander allowed three runs on five hits, two walks, and five strikeouts in the no decision. He’ll be trying to get his first decision of the season in his fifth start during the day. Cessa owns a 3.65 ERA and opponents are hitting .294 against him before the stadium lights turn on.
Brooklyn Cyclones @ Hudson Valley Renegades, 1:05pm EST
Robert Gsellman (0-1, 0.00 ERA) vs. Ben Griset (0-0, 3.60 ERA)
Gsellman will be starting against the Renegades at Dutchess Stadium for the second straight time, and will look to last longer than his most recent start. On June 24th, he allowed two runs on six hits, no walks, and three strikeouts in four innings pitched. In nine starts (47 innings pitched) across three levels this season, Gsellman owns a 2.87 ERA.
