MMN‘s Ernest Dove reports Luis Guillorme is in New York and ready to take Robinson Cano‘s spot on the 25 man roster. Cano left yesterday’s game in the fourth inning after pulling up lame en route to second base in what was going to be his third double of the game. After the game, the Mets announced Cano has a strained left hamstring and will be reevaluated today. After today’s evaluation, Cano has been placed on the 10 day IL.
This will be Guillorme’s sixth stint with the Mets this season. Over his previous five stints, Guillorme played in 17 games hitting .182/.217/.182. In his 69 games in Syracuse, he is hitting .307/.412/.452 with 12 doubles, seven homers, and 32 RBI. The seven homers is a career high for Guillorme. He also has drawn 39 walks against 42 strikeouts.
Another roster move the Mets will make today will be calling up RHP Walker Lockett to start in the second game of the doubleheader. In Lockett’s last start with the Mets, he picked up his first Major League win allowing one earned over five innings against the San Francisco Giants. This will be his fourth starts of the season for the Mets. Overall, he is 1-1 with a 7.82 ERA, 1.421 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9, and a 6.4 K/9.
