The Syracuse Mets have announced that right-hander Corey Oswalt has been named the International League’s Pitcher of the Week for the week of 8/17-8/25.

Oswalt hurled 12.2 innings of two-run ball over two starts with the Mets this week. He struck out seven and allowed six baserunners, two via walks and four via hits.

Overall, Oswalt pitched to a 10-3 record with a 2.88 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 15 starts this season with Syracuse.

If he qualified, his 2.88 ERA and his 5.69 K/BB would rank first among all pitchers in the International League while his 3.64 FIP and 1.44 BB/9 would place him second. He’s been one of the few Triple-A pitchers who have been stingy with the home-run ball with his 8.9 HR/FB and his .089 HR/9 are among the league’s best figures.

In two relief outings for the big-league club this season, Oswalt threw 6.2 innings and permitted nine runs to score on nine hits and six walks.

Oswalt also received this award for earlier this season for the week of 7/14-7/21.
