Baseball America released their mid-season farm system rankings update, with the Mets jumping five spots up to No. 20. Preseason rankings had the Mets at No. 25 and No. 28 from mid-season 2019.

The ranking place the Mets farm system third in the National League East, behind the Braves (#7) and Marlins (#9) but ahead of the Phillies (#26) and the Nationals (#28).

BA noted the strong performance of infielder Andres Gimenez (0.4 fWAR this year) at the big league level and the high-ended talent they were able to secure in the 2020 draft.

The Mets were able to draft and sign two first round talents in outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn in the most recent draft. They also picked toolsy outfielder Isaish Green with their second round comp pick. All three players are included in BA’s top 10 version of Mets’ prospects.

Here’s how we had the Mets post-draft top 10:

  1. Ronny Mauricio – SS
  2. Andres Gimenez – SS
  3. Francisco Alvarez – C
  4. Matthew Allan – RHP
  5. Mark Vientos – 3B
  6. Brett Baty – 3B
  7. Pete Crow-Armstrong – OF
  8. David Peterson – LHP
  9. J.T. Ginn – RHP
  10. Thomas Szapucki – LHP

We have Greene at No. 17, but the 11-17 slots are very arguable depending on personal preference.
