The New York Mets announced on Friday that after undergoing a physical exam and an MRI, right-handed pitcher Matt Allan will undergo Tommy John Surgery in the coming weeks to repair a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament.

Allan, who turned 20 last month, was the Mets’ third-round pick in the 2019 first-year player draft. He was 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA in 2019 over the course of 10 1/3 innings pitched. He struck out 14 and had a WHIP of 1.45.

With undergoing Tommy John surgery, it is expected that Allan will miss the remainder of the 2021 season.
