Now that the New York Mets have announced the rosters for their full season affiliates, we now know where each of them will be playing to start the 2022 season. Using MMN‘s Top 30 Prospect Rankings, here are where each of the top Mets prospects will begin their seasons:
Mets Taxi Squad
OF Nick Plummer (10)
Plummer was signed to a minor league deal this offseason after a breakout season with in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He is on the taxi squad as the Mets look to see how Brandon Nimmo‘s injured neck heals.
Syracuse Mets
3B Mark Vientos (4)
OF Khalil Lee (8)
OF Carlos Cortes (15)
RHP Eric Orze (20)
LHP Josh Walker (22)
1B/OF Carlos Rincon (24)
RHP Colin Holderman (30)
This biggest name here is obviously Vientos who needs to improve his defense at third to truly force his way to the majors. Beyond him, Orze, Walker, and Holderman may find themselves in the majors at some point as contributors in the Mets bullpen. To wit, Orze actually began the season on the Mets taxi squad.
Binghamton Rumble Ponies
C Francisco Alvarez (1)
3B Brett Baty (2)
SS Ronny Mauricio (3)
RHP Jose Butto (11)
OF Jake Mangum (16)
C Hayden Senger (19)
With the top three prospects in the Mets system, this is the most exciting Mets minor league team to follow this season. That said, we should not overlook Butto’s ability as a starter, and Mangum’s defense. Also, Senger was a player the Mets risked losing in the Rule 5 draft had it not been canceled.
Brooklyn Cyclones
INF/OF Jaylen Palmer (18)
RHP Junior Santos (21)
RHP Mike Vasil (27)
INF Wilmer Reyes (28)
1B JT Schwartz (29)
Palmer is playing near his Flushing home, and as of the moment, he is officially listed as an outfielder. Overall, he features an extremely talented group who is still a bit raw in terms of translating their very promising tools to on-field production.

Alex Ramirez, Photo by Ed Delany of MMN
St. Lucie Mets
OF Alex Ramirez (7)
RHP Dominic Hamel (9)
RHP Calvin Ziegler (13)
Ramirez is obviously the headliner here as he is the top 100 prospect. That said, Hamel and Ziegler have good fastballs and the ability to spin the ball well. They may find themselves fast risers in the Mets sytem.
Injured
RHP Matt Allan (4)
RHP Jordany Ventura (26)
Allan had Tommy John surgery in May 2021. We will likely not see him pitch anywhere until the second half of the season.
Short Season Affiliates
OF Simon Juan (12)
RHP Joel Diaz (14)
RHP Robert Dominguez (23)
OF Willy Fañas (25)
Juan and Fañas were the two big names out of the Mets last international free agent signing period. One note on that is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement calls for both sides to find a way to hold an international draft this July. If they don’t, the attachment of draft compensation to Major Leaguers receiving a qualifying offer returns.
Traded
RHP J.T. Ginn (6)
RHP Adam Oller (17)
As we see with Ginn and Oller being moved to the Oakland Athletics for Chris Bassitt, the Mets will be willing to use their prospects to help their heavy veteran team win the 2022 World Series. That may include making another big trade or possibly calling them up to the majors. It is one of many developments to follow during the course of the season.
