Mets No. 5 prospect, Mark Vientos has been selected to play in the 2022 All-Star Futures Game as a replacement player. He will join Triple-A Syracuse teammate Francisco Alvarez in representing the Mets.

Vientos, the Mets’ second round pick at No. 59 overall in 2017 is batting .2551/.337/.480, with a .826 OPS with Triple-A Syracuse. He has 39 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, and 15 home runs. He has driven in 41 RBIs in 63 games played this season.

Should Vientos continue hitting the way he is, many scouts and analysts say he could soon see his time at Triple-A conclude and get a big-league call-up.

The 22-year-old has played almost exclusively first base recently in Triple-A. He played mostly third base to start the season, but did not play the position well. At this point, when Vientos does get the promotion to the big leagues, it looks like he will be mostly a first baseman/DH type.

This will be Vientos’ first appearance in the All-Star Futures Game.
