As of 9:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
OFF
The 51 are off for the Triple-A All-Star break. They return to action Thursday night in Reno against the Aces.
Portland Sea Dogs @ Binghamton Mets, 1:05pm EST
Matt Barnes (4-5, 5.32 ERA) vs. Erik Goeddel (7-3, 4.23 ERA)
After sweeping their second doubleheader in four days, the B-Met send Goeddel to the mound to conclude the series against the Sea Dogs. The right-hander lost for the first time in his last ten starts on July 7th against New Hampshire. He allowed seven runs on five hits (one homer), seven walks, and four strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched. I actually think it’s pretty impressive he lasted that long in the game while giving up that many walks.
Dunedin Blue Jays @ St. Lucie Mets, GM 1 12:00pm EST
Aaron Sanchez (2-3, 3.23 ERA) vs. Michael Fulmer (0-1, 5.40 ERA)
Dunedin Blue Jays @ St. Lucie Mets, GM 2, immediately after
Jesse Hernandez (5-6, 3.15 ERA) vs. Rainy Lara (2-3, 2.70 ERA)
Last night’s game between the Mets and Jays was postponed due to rain, forcing them to play two at Tradition Field today, starting at high noon. Fulmer made his debut in the Florida State League on July 7th against Fort Myers. The right-hander gave up three first-inning runs, but shut out the Miracle over the next four innings prior to making his exit. His final line included three earned runs, five hits, two walks, and five strikeouts in five innings pitched. He earned the loss, but but bounced back nicely after a rough first inning.
Lara is set to start Game 2 for St. Lucie. He allowed three runs on five hits, a season-high five walks, and only one strikeout in five innings pitched.
Greenville Drive @ Savannah Sand Gnats, GM 1, 12:05pm EST
TBD vs. TBD
Greenville Drive @ Savannah Sand Gnats, GM 2, immediately after
TBD vs. Jake Kuebler (2-5, 3.19 ERA)
The rain suspended the game yesterday against the Drive and Gnats, forcing them to continue it today before their originally scheduled game.
Kuebler last took the mound on July 7th against Greenville, and was hit hard in getting his third straight loss. The right-hander allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits, two walks, and two strikeouts in four innings pitched. It was his shortest outing since lasting four on June 30th against Kannapolis. In 32 innings as a starter since he was inserted into the rotation, Kuebler has allowed 26 hits and seven walks, while striking out 18. Opponents are hitting .217 off him.
Brooklyn Cyclones @ Connecticut Tigers, 4:05pm EST
John Gant (1-2, 2.45 ERA) vs. TBD
Gant takes the mound tonight with hopes of earning his first win since his 2013 debut with the Cyclones back on June 20th. He earned a no decision in his latest start, which came on July 8th against Lowell. He allowed two runs (neither earned) on one hit, five walks, and seven strikeouts in five innings pitched. In 22 innings pitched this season, Gant has allowed 14 hits and nine walks, while striking out 32 hitters.
Kingsport Mets @ Burlington Royals, GM 1, 12:00pm EST
Persio Reyes (0-1, 9.45 ERA) vs. Zach Lovvorn (1-0, 0.56 ERA)
Kingsport Mets @ Burlington Royals, GM 2, 6:00pm EST
TBD vs. Sam Lewis (1-1, 6.43 ERA)
Are you noticing a trend here? Mother Nature has wrecked havoc on Kingsport for most of the week, forcing the coaching staff to juggle around the K-Mets rotation. Reyes is starting for the first time since he got touched up for seven runs in 3.2 innings on July 6th.
