The Mets were well represented in this Arizona Fall League game as four New York prospects were a part of a 6-5 Peoria win, and they remain undefeated through the AFL’s first three games.

Peoria Javelinas (3-0) 6 vs. Scottsdale Scorpions (2-1) 5   BOX SCORE

Peoria would rally back from an early 4-1 deficit to defeat Scottsdale 6-5, thanks to a pair of Met prospects. Kevin Kendall turned in a solid day at the plate with three hits and scored the first Peoria run in the first inning. He’s gotten off to a hot start in the desert, going 4-for-9 over his first two AFL games.

Brandon McIlwain made his AFL debut in this game, and he wouldn’t disappoint. He hit a double in the sixth inning and was later driven in by Yasel Antuna to cut the Scottsdale lead in half at 4-2. With the score tied in the ninth, McIlwain laced a clutch RBI single to give the Javelinas the lead and an eventual 6-5 win.

Christian Scott made his AFL debut as the starting pitcher in this one. It would start well for the Mets’ 2021 fifth-round draft pick, as he got through the first two innings without giving up a run and held Scottsdale to just a hit and a walk. Things would unravel quickly for Scott in the third. After giving up hits to three of the first four batters, which enabled Scottsdale to tie the game, Luis Matos would take Scott deep for a three-run home run to give the Scorpions a 4-1 lead. After giving up a double to the next batter he faced, that would be the end of the line for Scott.

No other Met pitchers would make an appearance in this game.
