Brett Baty‘s MRI revealed no structural damage, and the third base prospect is day-to-day with right thumb inflammation.
Bart underwent an MRI after being removed from the April 4 game with thumb soreness.
ORIGINAL REPORT:
In August of last year, Brett Baty went on the IL with a torn UCL in his right thumb. The injury required surgery, and judging from how he looked in the spring, the thumb was fully healed.
Unfortunately, during his third inning plate appearance against the Rochester Red Wings, Baty appeared to injure the same thumb, and he would be seen by the trainer. Baty would then be lifted from the game.
#Mets No. 2 prospect Brett Baty exited today's Triple-A Syracuse game.

The New York Mets said Baty left the game with soreness in the thumb that was surgically repaired last September. He will undergo an MRI to see the full extent of the injury to the thumb.
In other injury news, Tommy Hunter was placed on the major league IL with back spasms. Hunter has a history of back injuries and surgeries which he detailed for reporters.
With Jeff Brigham going on the IL earlier in the week, the Mets had no relievers on the 40-man roster available to be called up to take Hunter’s place. As a result, Bryce Montes de Oca was placed on the 60-day IL to make room for Denyi Reyes on the 26 and 40-man roster.
Reyes, 26, signed with the Mets as a minor league free agent in the offseason. He would appear in the game against the Milwaukee Brewers pitching 2/3 of an inning not allowing a base runner.
The Syracuse Mets roster is loaded with a number of injuries. At the moment, their roster page notes Josh Hejka, Brian Metoyer, and Oscar Rojas are done for the season. Additionally, Ryley Gilliam, Connor Grey, and Sean Reid-Foley are on the 60-day IL.
As noted Brigham is on the 7-day IL. Joining him on the 7-day day IL are Abraham Almonte and Jaylin Davis. It should be noted Baty has not been put on the IL as the Mets are awaiting the results of his MRI before making a decision.
