After hitting his first rough stretch since being demoted, Brett Baty broke out in a big way Friday night for Syracuse.
Led by Kevin Parada and Ryan Clifford, Binghamton won their seventh straight game, pulling them within a half game of the Eastern League Northeast leader, the Portland Sea Dogs.
Triple-A
Syracuse Mets (56-34) 4, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders (48-41) 3
- 3B Brett Baty: 1-for-3, 2 R, HR (9), 3 RBI, BB (.914 OPS)
- DH Mike Brosseau: 2-for-4, RBI, K (.835 OPS)
- SS Luisangel Acuña: 1-for-4, R, K (.676 OPS)
On Friday, Brett Baty broke out of his first slump in Triple-A in Syracuse’s win over SWB. Baty broke out from an 0-for-22 stretch with this long ball in the fifth inning to right field that went 408 feet.

- RHP Mike Vasil (5.94 ERA) 6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K (90 pitches/58 strikes)
- RHP Cole Sulser (1.53 ERA) 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
- RHP Ty Adcock 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Vasil was fantastic again for Syracuse, giving the Mets a quality start of six innings of two-run ball. Vasil hasn’t given up more than three earned runs in a game since May 30th and has gone six innings in four straight starts. After Dom Hamel excelled in his outing Thursday night, it’s a huge positive to see the Mets’ top pitching prospects rounding into form as the summer rolls into the trade deadline.
DOUBLE-A
Binghamton Rumble Ponies (44-38) 6, New Hampshire Fisher Cats (33-49) 4
- DH Kevin Parada 2-for-4, R, HR (10), 3 RBI, BB (.697 OPS)
- 1B Ryan Clifford 2-for-4, 2 R, 2B, BB (.924 OPS)
- 3B Jeremiah Jackson 2-for-5, R, 2B, K (.621 OPS)
Binghamton beat the Fisher Cats 6-4 behind Kevin Parada’s second home run in as many days. Parada, who struggled mightily the first half of the season, has turned it on in July– he has 12 hits this month, including his ninth and tenth round-trippers of the season.
The Parada Party continues! ?

Ryan Clifford hasn’t cooled off yet, stroking another extra-base hit on Friday. After starting July with a batting average and OPS of .178 and .828, Clifford’s numbers now sit at .238 and .924, respectively. Binghamton has taken advantage of these two in the middle of their lineup, winning their seventh straight game.
- RHP Nolan McLean (5.35 ERA) 4 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K (88 pitches/ 56 strikes)
- RHP Jeffrey Colon (3.00 ERA) 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
- RHP Carlos Guzman (4.88 ERA) 1 1/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
McLean allowed two or fewer earned runs for the third straight start while not conceding a home run. The Oklahoma State product has seemingly shifted towards pitching exclusively (he hasn’t had a start in the batting lineup since June 20th), but his quality on the mound has increased dramatically.
HIGH-A
Brooklyn Cyclones (39-46) 2, Wilmington Blue Rocks (39-45) 3
- DH Wilfredo Lara 2-for-3, R, 2B, BB (.687 OPS)
- C Christian Pregent 2-for-3, RBI, BB, K (.509 OPS)
- 1B Kellum Clark 2-for-3, R, BB, K (.650 OPS)
Brooklyn dropped their Friday night matchup against Wilmington, their third loss out of four games in the series, with two left to play. Super utility player Wilfredo Lara continues to show off the bat after a great June where he slashed .256/.380/.402 (.782 OPS). Lara has nine hits, four for extra-bases, and a .774 OPS in ten games this month.

- RHP Dakota Hawkins (4.26 ERA) 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K (77 pitches/50 strikes)
- RHP Henry Henry (6.14 ERA) 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
- RHP Justin Lawson (3.38 ERA) 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, Save
Henry bounced back after a rough four walk inning in his last appearance. Showing off his dynamic ability on Friday, Henry struck out four of six batters and did not allow a baserunner.
LOW-A
St. Lucie Mets (29-56) 1, Lakeland Flying Tigers (53-31) 6
- RF-1B Yohairo Cuevas 1-for-4, 2B RBI (.581 OPS)
- 2B-CF A.J. Ewing: 0-for-4, 3 K (.602 OPS)
- 1B Ronald Hernandez 1-for-3, 3 K (.746 OPS)
St. Lucie’s offense struggled to string together at-bats while their pitching walked eight batters en route to their 56th loss of the season. Racking up only two extra-base hits and drawing one walk, the Mets’ bats were mostly silent aside from Cuevas’ RBI double.

- RHP Ernesto Mercedes (5.01 ERA) 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
- LHP Joseph Yabbour (10.80 ERA) 1 1/3 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 2 K
- RHP Wilson Lopez (3.09 ERA) 2/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
- RHP Juan Arnaud (5.19 ERA) 2 IP, 1 H, 2 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 2 K
Mercedes has been solid for St. Lucie despite his 0-9 record. Lopez recorded five of the fastest pitches in Single-A Friday night, touching 99.6 on his heater.
FLORIDA COMPLEX LEAGUE
FCL Astros (20-24) 0, FCL Mets (20-27) 6
- SS Jeremy Rodríguez 1-for-3, R, 2B, BB, K (.756 OPS)
- RF-CF Simon Juan 2-for-4, 2 R, 2B, RBI, K, SB (.823 OPS)
- DH Daiverson Gutierrez 2-for-4, R, HR (1), 2 RBI, K (.921 OPS)
Gutierrez launched his first stateside homer– the Mets’ top 2023 international signee has crushed DSL and FCL pitching to start the year, slashing a combined .300/.451/.486 (.937 OPS) in 24 games.
Both DSL Mets teams lost to the Texas Rangers Dominican Summer League teams.
