The last day of the 2024 MLB Amateur Draft has arrived, and the Mets have 10 picks today. In this article, we will break down the Mets’ 11th, 12th, and 13th-round picks.
11th RD – Nick Roselli, Infielder
Roselli, 21, comes in at 5’10 and 200 pounds. He comes out of Binghamton University, where he had an elite slash line of .373/.471/.687, with an OPS of 1.158. He profiles as a contact-first middle infielder with sneaky pop, as he posted six home runs in 102 plate appearances this year. He also has a solid eye at the plate with an average speed. The advanced metrics also like him as he had a 178 wRC+ and a 62.2% HardHit.
Roselli went to Division Avenue High in Levittown, New York.
12th RD – Ethan Lanthier, RHP
Lanthier, 21, is a big dude who comes in at 6’5, 230. The tall right-handed reliever has a fastball that sits between 93-97 with 17.2 iVB. His arsenal contains a sweepy slider that sits in between 82-85, also has a decent changeup. He posted a 4.54 ERA and 4.14 FIP across 37.2 innings during his senior year at Kansas. Command is an issue, as he walked 11.6% of the batters he faced.
13th RD – R.J. Gordon, RHP
Gordon, 22, comes in at 6’0, 195. This year at Oregon was his first year as a full-time starter. He hurled 94.2 innings over 17 starts and had a 5.13 ERA. His stuff might not be the best in the swings and misses category, as he only had an 8.3 K/9 this past year with the Ducks. He doesn’t have a deep arsenal as it only features a three-pitch mix, a lively low 90s fastball, and a sweeper-like slider; the final pitch in his bag is a changeup. He likely will have to add one more pitch if he wants to be a viable starter, not a swingman/reliever.
