Mets Minors Recap: Ryan Clifford Goes Yard In Return From Break

Syracuse came out of the break scorching hot, and every full season Mets affiliate minus St. Lucie won on Friday

Triple-A

Rochester Red Wings (51-41) 2, Syracuse Mets (58-35) 13

BOX SCORE

The Syracuse Mets went ballistic on offense, scoring 13 runs on fourteen hits with only three of them going for extra bases. Every player reached base and scored a run.

JT Schwartz continues to struggle in his first exposure to Triple-A, going 1-for-5 on the day with a run scored, and his OPS now sits at .338.

  • RHP Tylor Megill (2.38 ERA) 5 IP, 1 unearned run, 2 H, 4 BB, 7 K (55 of 85 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Mike Vasil (5.83 ERA) 3 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 K (31 of 42 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Shintaro Fujinami (10.97 ERA) 1 IP, 1 BB, 1 K

Tylor Megill started the second half off strong, allowing no earned runs in his outing despite walking four. Mike Vasil piggybacked him, going three innings and having one of his best control games on the season, throwing almost 75% of his pitches for strikes. Fujinami continued his rehab with a solid outing.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (47-38) 6, Portland SeaWolves (49-37) 4

BOX SCORE

Ryan Clifford continued to mash in his return from the break, hitting his 13th homer of the season. Kevin Parada, despite his bad day at the plate has turned his season around as his OPS inches closer to .700.

Joander Suarez allowed four runs on the day, but the bullpen was able to pitch a scoreless final four innings highlighted by Nolan Clenney’s 2 1/3 of hitless ball.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (41-47) 6, Jersey Shore BlueClaws (49-39) 5

BOX SCORE

The Cyclones laid dormant for eight innings and in the ninth they erupted for five runs to tie the game. Christopher Suero capped off the comeback with a walk-off RBI-single in the tenth inning to secure the win for Brooklyn.

Low-A

Jupiter Hammerheads (46-42) 5, St. Lucie Mets (30-58) 4

BOX SCORE

Drew Gilbert and Jacob Reimer, both on rehab assignments had nice days at the plate. Gilbert played 7 innings in Center.

Colin Houck continued his struggles defensively with his 16th error of the season.

The St. Lucie pitching staff just could not hold the lead, allowing the game tying run in the ninth and then the game winning run in the tenth. The defense let them down with three errors on the day allowing for four unearned runs.
