Jack Wenninger had yet another outstanding outing and every Mets affiliate other than Syracuse won on Wednesday.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (10-12) 4, Worcester Red Sox 5 Final/7

BOX SCORE

In a continuation of the March 29th game, the Mets put across two runs in the sixth inning but couldn’t complete the comeback. Francisco Alvarez had a rough day at the plate, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts

  • RHP Dom Hamel (2.45 ERA) 3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR allowed (33 of 54 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Jordan Geber (7.86 ERA) 2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 HR allowed

Chris Devenski pitched a clean inning of work in the continuation. Dom Hamel had a rough day, but it was prior to his stint on the injured list.

Syracuse Mets (10-12) 4, Worcester Red Sox 5 Final/7

BOX SCORE

  • CF Jeff McNeil – 2-for-4, R, RBI (1), BB (.583 OPS)
  • DH Jon Singleton – 2-for-4, 2 RBI (11) (.877 OPS)
  • 1B Joey Meneses – 1-for-4, R (.843 OPS)

Jeff McNeil, in what will be his last rehab start before being reinstated from the injured list played centerfield and went 2-for-4 with an RBI, run scored and a walk. Syracuse did not have an extra base hit in the game.

A missed catch by Joey Meneses saddled the blown save and loss on the rehabbing Dedniel Núñez who hasn’t rounded into form since his return. Austin Warren had a solid one and two-third innings with four strikeouts and a walk.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (9-6) 3, New Hampshire Fisher Cats (6-8) 0

BOX SCORE

Jett Williams continues to hit for some extra-base power. Ryan Clifford hit his second home run of the season, but had a poor day in the field with two errors. Only four players got hits for the Rumble Ponies Wednesday. The struggles continue for Kevin Parada, going 0-for-3 on the day with two strikeouts lowering his OPS to .357.

Jack Wenninger had his best outing of the season, striking out ten over five innings. Where Jonah Tong has struggled, Wenninger has relied on a solid fastball/change-up combination to keep hitters off balance. Trey McLoughlin had his best outing of the season, going one and two-third innings of scoreless baseball with a walk and three strikeouts.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (11-6) 2, Jersey Shore BlueClaws (6-11) 1

BOX SCORE

Despite the win, the Cyclones only managed two hits and three total baserunners on the day and were helped by an error on a Jesus Baez ground ball that scored two runners.

Joel Diaz has been performing quite well since his recovery from Tommy John surgery and its only a matter of time before he starts being considered as one of the Mets top pitching prospects. Brendan Girton had a solid game piggybacking on the Diaz outing and Ryan Lambert earned his first save continuing his excellent debut season.

Low-A

St. Lucie Mets (10-7) 6, Daytona Tortugas (8-9) 3

BOX SCORE

St. Lucie put across six runs on four hits and five walks, with some help from some poor defense. Colin Houck, despite running a .196 average has a .726 OPS helped by some improved plate discipline and more in-game power than he displayed all of last season.

Ethan Lanthier looked impressive, limiting the damage over his outing. Cristofer Gomez relieved him and was lights-out himself, striking out six of the nine batters he faced. Chandler Marsh has been a huge surprise as an undrafted rookie, striking out 14 in 9 2/3 innings without allowing a run.
