Brandon Sproat was magnificent on Saturday. The 24-year-old from Peniscola struck out six over six scoreless innings. It was a much-needed confidence boost for the Mets’ top pitching prospect, who had allowed 10 earned runs in his last three starts while walking eight batters in that span. Sproat may end up being called up to Queens to aid a Mets staff that’s been beaten down by injury and regression.
