Francisco Alvarez smashed his first home run since being sent down to Syracuse on Sunday, as the Mets are hoping a stint in AAA will get his bat going. Pablo Reyes hit his second homer of the season and has five hits in six games since signing with Syracuse.

Alex Carillo locked down the win for Syracuse and is yet to surrender a run in AAA since being called up from Binghampton on the 23rd.

Drew Gilbert had his first AAA multi-homer game Saturday as Syracuse rallied for eight runs in the 8th inning. Yonny Hernández hit a clutch two-run double in the 8th and now has seven hits in his last three games.

Julian Merryweather posted a scoreless inning and a third, and will be a name to watch as the Mets cycle through their reliever pool.

Carson Benge and Nick Morabito led the Rumble Ponies to an extra-innings victory over the Sea Dogs. Benge delivered his first Double-A double to tie the game, while Morabito came through with the walk-off single, capping off a red-hot June in which he’s batting an impressive .337.

Zach Thornton tossed five scoreless innings, allowing five hits with no walks and four strikeouts, on just 55 pitches. With the outing, he lowered his season ERA to 2.60 over 53 innings at the Double-A level. Brooks Raley also struck out two and threw 12 strikes out of 17 total pitches as he looks to make his way back onto the Mets roster.

High A

The Cyclones rallied for three runs in the 2nd on the backs of an Onix Vega RBI double and an A.J. Ewing RBI single. Eli Seranno also joined in on the fun with an RBI double in the 1st. Ewing now has six hits over his last three games as he looks to gain momentum after batting just .229 in June.

Jonathan Santucci gutted through 5 2/3 innings as he struck out eight over 5.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and a walk. Jace Beck held down the fort for Brooklyn and struck out two in one inning of work. Beck surrendered four earned runs over seven innings of work in June.

Low-A

Box Score

Corey Collins hit his second homer of the season to lead off the first. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as St Lucie posted just three runs and lost to the Hammerheads.

• RHP Irving Cota 2.0 IP, 2 H, 3 K (3.55 ERA)

Daviel Hurtado allowed four earned runs over four innings, giving up three hits and three walks while striking out five. Irving Cota followed with a solid relief outing, tossing two scoreless frames with three strikeouts.

Rookie Ball Florida Complex League

FCL Mets (14-22) 4, FCL Cardinals (16-20) 2

Box Score

Julio Zayas was the main source of offense for FCL in Game One, as he hit a single that scored two runs along with his fifth double of the year. Zayas broke out of his slump that had him hitless since June 20th.

Jonathan Jimenez delivered four scoreless innings on the mound, posting four strikeouts in a strong Saturday outing. Christian Rodriguez blew his third save in the sixth but finished strong as he recorded his second save of the season.

FCL Mets (14-23) 1, FCL Cardinals  (17-20) 2  Game 2

Zayas was once again the primary source of offense in Game Two, driving in FCL’s only run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and adding his sixth double of the season. Daniel Silva also contributed with his second double of the year.

Jermayne Verdu was the highlight of Game Two as he pitched three shutout innings with three strikeouts sprinkled in. Verdu has allowed two earned runs in 7.2 innings of work on the season.

Dominican Summer League

Adolfo Miranda was the only Met that recorded a hit on Saturday as he tallied two singles.

• RHP Alvaro Carrillo 2.1 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 4 K (3.38 ERA)

Henderson Hernandez had trouble finishing off hitters, allowing five runs over just 2.2 innings despite recording five strikeouts. On a brighter note, Alvaro Carrillo delivered his first scoreless outing of the season, striking out four in an impressive relief effort.

DSL Colorado (11-9) 9, DSL Mets Blue (8-12) 10

Alex Acosta had a big day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and a homer. Catcher Yovanny Rodriguez reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with two walks and driving in a pair of runs as the DSL Mets rallied for six runs in the Seventh inning to win the game.
