Top prospect Jett Williams hit two solo homers, singled and stole a base Friday for Double-A Binghamton. The 21-year-old, selected in the first round (14th overall) of the 2022 draft out of Rockwell-Heath (Texas) High School, is flourishing this year after missing much of 2024 due to injury.
Binghamton was forced to make do without pitcher Jonah Tong and outfielder Carson Benge. The pair were placed on the temporary inactive list so they could travel to the annual Futures Game, a National League vs. American League contest featuring top prospects that takes place Saturday at Truist Park in Atlanta as part of All-Star Weekend.

Gilbert, 24, is having a nice July (.273/.351/.636, three homers, triple, double). It will be interesting to see if Alvarez, who hit his fifth homer in 16 games at Syracuse, will return to the majors after the All-Star break. The Mets won the game on a Yonny Hernández walk-off single.

- RHP Jonathan Jimenez (4.13 ERA) 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, BB, 3 K
The runs scored on Jimenez were unearned. He has gone four starts (15 IP) without giving up an earned run. The 21-year-old Venezuelan has struck out 16 and walked two in that span.
Dominican Summer League
DSL Arizona Red (17-12) 1, DSL Mets Orange (18-10) 2, 8 innings
Box Score
- 2B Elian Peña, 0-for-3, BB, K (.770 OPS)
- LF Heriberto Rincon, 1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI (9) (.802 OPS)
- SS Yunior Amparo, 0-for-3, R, K (1.110 OPS)
Peña came up with the bases loaded, one out and Mets Orange down 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth. (DSL games are seven innings, so they were in extra innings.) Peña will (undoubtedly) have a career full of clutch moments at Citi Field, but on Friday at a stadium in Cruce De Boca Chica the 17-year-old struck out swinging. Rincon, however, followed with a walk-off, two-run double.
- LHP Luis Sotillo (2.84 ERA) 3 IP, H, 2 BB, 2 K
- RHP Julio Gonzalez (2.08 ERA) 2 IP, 2 BB, 2 K
- LHP Pablo Medina (3.52 ERA) 2 IP, R, 2 K, W
Mets Orange pitchers held Arizona to one hit. Sotillo (19 IP, 10 strikeouts) has thrown scoreless outings in three of his six starts.
DSL Mets Blue (14-15) 12, DSL Colorado (11-18) 10, 10 innings
Box Score
- 2B Yorber Semprun, 5-for-7, 2 RBI (14), 2 R, K (1.065 OPS)
- 3B Yensi Rivas, 4-for-6, R, K (.733 OPS)
- C Cesar Acosta, 3-for-4, 2 RBI (10), R, 2 BB, K (.872 OPS)
Semprun, 17, is 10-for-16 in his last three games. Mets Blue scored 12 runs on 17 hits without recording an extra-base hit, which I found kind of astonishing. (So I looked it up and the record for most runs without an XBH in MLB is 16 by the Royals in a win over the Blue Jays on Aug. 6, 1979.)
- RHP Jose Vielma (1.17 ERA) 2.1 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 K
