Brandon Sproat had yet another scoreless outing and is capping off the month of July with a 0.67 ERA with 33 K’s in 27 innings, holding hitters to a .152 batting average. With the MLB trade deadline having passed and the ineffectiveness of Clay Holmes as a starter, a window may be opening up for Sproat to get promoted to New York.

Layonel Ovalles has been outstanding for St. Lucie, with his third straight scoreless outing. After a rough April, Ovalles has only been scored on in three outings since May 28, and held batters to a .105 average in July.

Elian Peña went 1-for-4 with a run scored, a walk and a strikeout bringing his OPS to .825. Yunior Amparo went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two walks and a stolen base. Justin Ramirez went 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI.

Matteo Marelli went four innings allowing one run on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts and showing he is adapting to professional baseball quickly. Cesar Acosta went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Yorber Semprun went 1-for-4 with an RBI and is slashing .343/.413/.467.
