The New York Mets added to their infield/outfield depth on Monday. Per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the team has agreed to terms on a minor league deal with 32-year-old Jose Rojas. As part of the deal, he will receive an invite to major league camp, and if he gets added to the 40-man roster, he will earn $820k pro-rated.

Rojas was most recently with the New York Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate, Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders, where he led the International League with 32 home runs and 105 RBIs in 2025.

Over the course of the season with Scranton Wilkes-Barre, he slashed .287/ .379/ .599, with a .978 OPS. That included 35 doubles, four triples, and the 32 home runs mentioned, which led all of the International League. He drove in 105 RBIs and had 77 runs scored. He also stole 15 bases and was caught only twice.

Defensively, Rojas played first base, third base, second base and both corner outfield spots in 2025. He also pitched once, making his fourth appearance on the mound in his career. Rojas was primarily a designated hitter in 2025, though, with 47 of his 83 offensive appearances coming as a DH.

Prior to that, in 2024, the lefty batter split the season between the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Triple-A affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians, and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. That year, he hit .243/.346/.536, with a .882 OPS.

Though he has spent most of his career in the minor leagues, Rojas also has some major league experience with the Los Angeles. They drafted him in the 36th round of the 2016 MLB draft, and five years later, in 2021, he made his major league debut with the organization.

He has played in 83 big league games between 2021-2022 and has slashed a career .188/.245/.339, with a .584 OPS. He had 42 total hits throughout his career, including 16 doubles and 6 home runs, and drove in 16 RBIs and scored 27 runs.

Between his time in the big leagues and playing the last couple of years in the minor leagues, he also spent time playing internationally. He appeared in 122 games with the Doosan Bears of the KBO in 2023. While playing with the team, he hit .253/.345/.474, with a .819 OPS. He had 24 doubles, four triples, 19 home runs, drove in 65 RBIs, and had 52 runs scored with the KBO.

Rojas, now back in the states for the last couple of seasons, will head back down to Florida, but this time to Port St. Lucie to join the Mets at spring training camp, where he will participate in big league camp.
