Per our own Mike Mayer (also of Metsmerized Online), sources have reported that the New York Mets’ Director of Amateur Scouting, Marc Tramuta is leaving the organization to return to the Toronto Blue Jays as their Special Assistant of Player Personnel.

Tramuta had been with the Mets since 2012 and served as their Director of Amateur Scouting for six of those years. He built two successful top-10 systems (2014-15, 2017-18) and has helped the Mets draft well during his time with the organization, bringing in players like Brett Baty, Pete Alonso, and Mark Vientos.

Tramuta joined the Metsmerized Weekly Podcast in 2022 to discuss the success of 2019 draft picks like Brett Baty; along with the mindset of the 2022 draft for the Mets. He worked with a philosophy of building a winning organization, saying he would rather win than constantly be in a rebuild.

Most recently, in 2023, Tramuta had shifted to a role that also included international scouting after the Mets promoted Drew Toussaint to director of amateur scouting.

Prior to joining the Mets, Tramuta had worked with the Toronto Blue Jays’ scouting department.

Reports of Tramuta leaving the Mets come just two days after manager Buck Showalter announced he would not be returning as manager in 2024.
