With the Trade Deadline approaching and the New York Mets emerging as potential sellers, the farm system could very well see an influx of players in the coming days to join an already talented crop of prospects. Here are the biggest developments throughout the system, including continued runs of excellence from Jett Williams and Christian Scott.

Triple-A Syracuse

The Syracuse Mets lost four of six games at home against the Buffalo Bisons. They have a 39-55 record on the year.

Ronny Mauricio went 7-for-26 with two home runs, four RBI, and four runs scored. Mauricio played all over the diamond this week, logging time at shortstop, second base, and left field. He has 16 homers this season and is hitting .297 with an .856 OPS.

Abraham Almonte and Luke Voit each hit two homers in the series. Both sluggers are hitting home runs at a high rate, and both have an OPS over .900 to reflect that.

Tylor Megill had a rough week allowing 13 runs on 14 hits across 5 1/3 innings in the two starts he made. He has a staggering 10.29 ERA through five Triple-A starts.

Mike Vasil allowed four runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings of work on Saturday. His Triple-A ERA is 6.94, and his overall season ERA has crept all the way up to a 4.72 mark.

Double-A Binghamton

The Rumble Ponies split their six-game series at home against the Erie SeaWolves. Binghamton is currently sitting with a 42-47 record.

The offense managed just two home runs across the six games. The two heavy hitters at the top of the lineup, Rowdey Jordan and José Peroza, both had quiet weeks. Jordan went 3-for-22 with two doubles and two stolen bases, while Peroza went 3-for-23 and hit his 20th double of the campaign.

Christian Scott was excellent across two starts this week. He allowed two runs and struck out eight batters across seven innings of work on Tuesday, following that up by pitching four scoreless innings on Sunday. He has a 2.90 ERA in seven starts since getting called up to Double-A.

Tyler Stuart allowed two runs on eight hits across seven innings on Friday recording just one strikeout. He has a 2.08 ERA through his first two Double-A starts, and his 1.62 ERA on the season still leads all qualified minor league pitchers.

Dominic Hamel gave up five runs (3 ER) in five innings of work on Thursday. He has a 5.09 ERA this season with 99 strikeouts in 76 innings on the mound.

High-A Brooklyn

The Cyclones won four of six games away at the Hudson Valley Renegades. Brooklyn is back over .500 with a 45-44 record.

Alex Ramírez had the best game of his young professional career on Friday, going 6-for-6 at the plate and robbing a home run in the field. He went just 2-for-19 in the other five games, but he did score seven runs in the series.

Kevin Parada played in all but one game in the series and went 5-for-20 with two doubles and three RBI. He has a .269 average and an .806 OPS this season.

Stanley Consuegra hit three homers in the series including two in Wednesday’s game. He is up to 10 homers on the season after hitting 13 all of last year.

Blade Tidwell continued his strong run of form with another excellent start on Thursday. He allowed one run in 6 1/3 innings of work on Thursday lowering his season ERA to 3.29. He has posted a 1.70 ERA across his last 11 starts.

Low-A St. Lucie

The St. Lucie Mets lost four of six games against the Palm Beach Cardinals with the games being played in St. Lucie but the Mets serving as the away team. St. Lucie has a dismal 32-57 record on the year.

Jett Williams went 5-for-16 with one home run, one triple, one double, and two steals. He also drew seven walks, bringing his season average up to .248 and his season OPS up to .823.

Jacob Reimer hit two homers in the series and has six long balls at the Low-A level. He is hitting .283 with an .816 OPS this season.

Layonel Ovalles allowed six runs across five innings on Tuesday, raising his season ERA to 5.07. Javier Atencio picked up his first win of the year on Sunday after pitching five innings of three-run ball, but his ERA still sits at 10.31.

Florida Complex League Mets

The FCL Mets won three of the five games they played this week to bring their record to 20-11. Jesus Baez hit his second homer of the year.

Players of the Week

Offense – Jett Williams, SS/CF St. Lucie

There are hot streaks, and then there are the sort of torrid stretches that Jett Williams has been on over the course of the past month. Williams reached base 12 times in just five games this week giving him a .330/.488/.546 slash line over his last 30 games. In that time, he has 12 extra-base hits, 15 RBI, and is a perfect 13-for-13 on stolen base attempts.

Williams has been regarded as a blue-chip prospect from the moment he was drafted by the Mets in the first round of last year’s draft, but that does not make his recent form any less outstanding. The only thing that’s really missing in this equation is power, and even that seems to be steadily improving. The future is assuredly bright for Williams and for the Mets fans that have the pleasure to follow along with his progression.

Honorable mentions go to Alex Ramírez for his six-hit performance on Friday, as well as to Stanley Consuegra for his three-homer series.

Pitching – Christian Scott, P Binghamton

Scott made the most of his two-start week with two superb performances. He allowed just two runs across 11 innings of work racking up 14 strikeouts and not issuing a single walk. He lowered his season ERA to 2.86, and his 0.88 WHIP leads all qualified Mets minor-league pitchers.

A 5th-round pick in the 2021 Draft, Scott is having a breakout season after a somewhat middling 2022 campaign, during which he posted a 4.45 ERA in 18 appearances (9 starts). Scott’s strikeouts numbers are down a bit this year, but he’s done an excellent job of keeping batters from reaching base, a true recipe for success at any level. He has also been great about preventing home runs, allowing just six in 127 2/3 professional innings. Scott is definitely a name to keep an eye on moving forward, particularly if he can continue to prevent baserunners at the rate he currently is.

Honorable mentions go to Tyler Stuart and Blade Tidwell for each posting yet another strong start in a summer full of them for the two young right-handers.
