The FCL season is set to begin June 6, and in advance of the first slate of games, the New York Mets have announced the 40 man roster for the 2022 season:

Pitchers

Yeremi Abad
Jose Acuna
Angel Alfonseca
Ricardo Baptist
Jace Beck
Richard Brito
Trevor Cahill
Jean Calderon
Felipe De La Cruz
Jorge De Leon
Austin Faith
Benito Garcia
Saul Garcia
Ryley Gilliam
Elliot Johnstone
Aaron Martinez
Douglas Orellana
Layonel Ovalles
Jawilme Ramirez
Kevin Ribon
Luis Rodriguez
Claudio Scotti
Christopher Vasquez
Jordany Ventura

The biggest name of this group is Cahill. Cahill was signed by the Mets after the starting pitching injuries. He has not yet pitched in the minors, and it is unlikely he will start here unless it is a rehab start.

Gilliam is listed on this roster, but he will not pitch this season as he underwent Tommy John surgery in April. Ventura underwent the surgery in August 2021, and he may not make an appearance this season.

As noted by SNY‘s Jacob Resnick, Brito and Orelllana are pitchers who are making the jump from the DSL to the FCL this season.

Catchers

Jose Hernandez
Andriel Lantigua
Gregory Leal

Hernandez has not played since 2019 leaving Leal with the only player from this group who played last season. In 28 games, he only hit .084 while throwing out 18% of base stealers.

Infielders

Jefrey De Los Santos
Gregory Guerrero
Wilfredo Lara
Yeral Martinez
Diego Mosquera
Adrian Rubio
Matt Winaker

Guerrero is on the roster after appearing in just three games for St. Lucie last season. Injuries have side tracked the career of the once top Mets prospect. Again, as noted by Resnick, De Los Santos is making the jump from the DSL. Last season, he hit .248/.344/.372 in 42 games.

Outfielders

Ronis Aybar
Francis De Leon
Adrian Hernandez
Blaine McIntosh
Hector Rodriguez
Matt Rudick
Eduardo Salazar

McIntosh was the Mets 13th round pick in the 2019 draft. He played in the FCL last season hitting .131/.310/.212 in 17 games.

Despite announcing his retirement, former Mets top prospect Hernandez is listed on this roster.
