The Mets have signed veteran Daniel Palka to a minor league deal and announced that he will be going to play in Triple-A with the Syracuse Mets.

Palka, 31, hit .233/.309/.410 with 12 home runs, 48 RBIs, and a .719 OPS over 79 games earliest this season in Triple-A for the Red Sox before getting released. Last season, he appeared in 109 games for Syracuse, hitting .263/.344/.506 with 26 home runs and 79 RBIs for a .850 OPS. P

Palka plays first base and outfield, and this season has almost evenly split his games at those two positions and DH.

This looks to be a minor-league depth add, as Palka hasn’t seen action in the MLB since 2019 with the Chicago White Sox. Syracuse has dealt with recent injuries to Luke Ritter, José Peraza, and Nick Meyer.
