Ahh it’s good to be back here at Mets Minors. Last week, MLB Pipeline released their Top 50 Draft Prospects list for the 2017 MLB Draft this June.
Being a draft junkie, this is certainly exciting as we look to see who the best available talent is for the future of baseball.
In the 2016 draft, the Mets had two picks in the first round taking right-handed pitcher Justin Dunn and left-handed pitcher Anthony Kay. As of right now, the Mets own the 20th pick in the 1st round this year.
The class so far, looks to carry a lot of arms and not a lot of bats. The college bats seem to be weak in the class this year, but there are plenty of young pitchers and high school bats.
In MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 there are seven college hitters, 14 high school position players, 12 prep pitchers, 13 college arms and four players that are still playing pitching and playing in the field.
Stay tuned for updated coverage from me here at MMN.
