Jayce Boyd is currently leading the South Atlantic League with a .352 batting average. He has a 10-point lead over Stetson Allie (.342 BA) of the West Virginia Power, and a 13-point lead over fellow Gnats teammate, Kevin Plawecki (.339 BA).

In addition to leading that category, his .438 on-base percentage also leads the league, while his 16 doubles rank in the top six of the SAL. Savannah dropped their contest against the Greenville Drive last night by the score of 5-1. If you missed the MMN recap of the game, you can find it right here.

The lone run was driven in by Boyd, as he’s recorded at least one hit in five of his last six games, including four multi-hit games. If you’re wondering how he made his way to the top of the league in batting average after posting a .239/.320/.368, you can see it in the below video. He put a great swing on a fastball over the outside corner of the plate, singling to right center field.

It was obvious he was looking to take that ball the other way, not trying to do too much, which led to the base hit and RBI. His stance is nice and quiet, while this video shows a sweet swing with the ability to get his hands to the hitting position without too much movement.
