Daniel Murphy officially declined the Mets qualifying offer yesterday making him a free agent and allowing New York to get back a compensatory pick at the end of the first round when/if he signs with a new team.

Mets right-handed relief pitcher Buddy Carlyle was outrighted off the 40-man roster and declared free agency. He pitched just eight innings this year before landing on the disabled list in May and never returning. The Mets 40-man roster now stands at 36.

Yesterday the Mets also announced that they signed minor league utility player Ty Kelly. The switch hitter played in AAA last year for the St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays. He has more career minor league walks (486) than strikeouts (484). You can read more about him here.

Lefty reliever Adam Kolarek who pitched the entire 2015 season with the Binghamton Mets became a free agent earlier this offseason and has signed a minor league deal with the Baltimore Orioles.

Earlier this week a group of ten minor leaguers elected free agency highlighted by lefty reliever Alex Torres. He was joined by Las Vegas 51’s teammates Cody Satterwhite, Scott Rice, Dan Rohlfing, and Zach Lutz.

The group of players becoming free agents from the Binghamton Mets includes Josh Rodriguez who lead the team in homeruns and RBI. Joining him in free agency from the B’Mets are Jon Velasquez and Brock Peterson.

St. Lucie Mets pitcher Jake Kuebler and Brooklyn Cyclones pitcher Edioglis Villasmil are now free agents as well.

Here you can see the other 27 players in the Mets organization that became free agents earlier this offseason including Vic Black.
