Jesus Baez helped Brooklyn win their eleventh consecutive home game with both the bat and glove, driving in a run, scoring a run, and making diving stop to save a run. Zach Thornton threw six scoreless innings and struck out eight to help Double-A Binghamton to a 2-0 victory Friday over Aberdeen in a game that was shortened to seven innings because of rain. The 23-year-old lefty, a fifth-round pick in 2023 out of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, has struck out 32 in 31.1 IP in six starts since being promoted to the Rumble Ponies. He’s posted scoreless outings in three of his last four starts.

Nice to see Gilbert double twice. After a hot April hitting .309/.418/.491, the 24-year-old selected by the Astros in the first round of the 2022 draft had fallen off in May (.182/.315/.273 entering Friday.)

Box Score
- CF Carson Benge, 1-for-3, SB (10) (.935 OPS)
- 3B Jacob Reimer, 2-for-2, HR (8), RBI (35), BB (1.025 OPS)
- SS Jesus Baez, 1-for-3, 2B, RBI, R (.808 OPS)
Reimer, who sent his homer into the foggy Coney Island night, entered Friday leading the South Atlantic League in OPS. Benge, who is third in the league in OPS, also threw out a runner at second. The fog stopped the game after five innings and made for cool videos.
Jacob Reimer hits his 8th home run of the season to give Brooklyn a 3-0 edge after five…we think.

Dohm’s third start for Brooklyn was his longest outing yet. He has 11 strikeouts in 9.1 IP since being promoted from St. Lucie. Marsh has fanned 16 in 13 IP for Brooklyn. The pitching staff get some help from Jesus Baez, who helped close out the third inning with diving grab on a hard hit line drive.
Jesus Baez drives in his 17th run during the month of May with this two-out double. He later scored on an error and Brooklyn leads 2-0 after one on Coney Island.#AmazinStartsHere I #LGM I #MiLB pic.twitter.com/YwwDFoDN0x
