After being deactivated and released by the Gigantes del Cibao (LIDOM) earlier this week, 1B Joey Terdoslavich announced yesterday that he had signed a new winter league contract to play for the Tomateros de Culiacan for the rest of the season. The team has already clinched a playoff spot by finishing the 1st half of the season with the best record in the league (21-14) so it is very likely Terdoslavich will be playing all the way into mid to late January for his new team.

Having shown success so far in his first three games played, the Aguilas moved Lagares up into the second spot in the line-up for today’s game. He would once again not disappoint, reaching base twice as part of two scoring rallies for the team. The walk he drew in the fourth inning was particularly impressive as he actually fell behind in the count 1-2. He fouled off multiple tough pitches and laid off the bad ones to draw the lead-off walk. During his time on the base-paths, you could tell he wanted to push it but thought better. Two batters, Zoilo Almonte punched a soft single up the middle, Lagares rounded second and seemed like he could very easily go first to third on the hit but chose not to push it. He would eventually scored on a double by Guillermo Heredia. Lagares would add a base hit of his own in the fifth inning with a line drive up the middle. Defensively, Lagares registered two relatively easy put-outs.
