MMN Recap 06/07: Delgado Gets Third Straight Win, Nimmo Homers

Las Vegas 51s (31-27) 13 vs. Tacoma Rainiers 2

BOX SCORE

The 51s beat the Seattle Mariners Triple-A Affiliate in the final game of the series 13-2 to win the series against the PCL Northern leader 3-1.

Every hitter in the lineup got at least a hit. Nimmo hit his third home run of the season and is batting .387 in his last ten games. Monell hit his fourth home run in his last ten games, batting .366 in that span. Cecchini had his fifth multi-hit game in his last ten and his third three-hit game over that span. He is hitting .390 in his last ten. Marc Krauss added to his team leading home run total, he now has eleven on the year which is seventh in the PCL.

Ynoa has pitched through six innings in eleven of his twelve  starts this season. Ynoa leads the PCL in wins and is third in the league in ERA. Goeddel has not allowed a run in his last five outings and in his last ten he had eight scoreless outings. His ERA in his last five dropped from 6.05 to 4.94.

Tuesday was announced that T.J. Rivera was named player of the month in the PCL. Congrats to T.J. Rivera, who was also named Mets Minors offensive player of the Month by us at MMN.

Binghamton Mets (24-32) 6 vs. Trenton Thunder 4

The Binghamton Mets won their third in a row beating the Double-A Affiliate from the New York Yankees in the series opener 6-4.

Gibson and Cruzado both have at least a hit in nine of their last ten games. Gibson is batting .409 and Cruzado is batting .395 in those last ten. Evans is working on a seven game hitting streak, after his third straight 1 for 4 day but still has not walked in Double-A this season.

Delgado got his third straight victory as the bullpen could hold the two-run lead with four scoreless innings. Delgado is now 8-2 in ten starts between the St. Lucie Mets and the Binghamton Mets. In 60.2 innings he’s pitched to a 3.56 ERA.

Colombia Fireflies (29-28) 4 vs. Augusta Greenjackets 3 F/10

Scheduled as a seven inning doubleheader didn’t go how they planned it in the first game as the Fireflies beat the Class-A Affiliate from the San Francisco Giants after ten innings.

In the top of the tenth, Thompson singled and later scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch. Since coming back from the DL, Thompson is 7 for 28.

It was Canelon his fifth straight quality start as he lowered his ERA to 2.83 which is 14th in the South Atlantic league. Canelon has not allowed more than two walks in a start. Tyler Bashlor allowed more than one run per outing for the first time this season. His ERA went up from 1.09 to 2.03

Augusta Greenjackets 6 vs. Colombia Fireflies (29-29) 5 F/7

The Fireflies could not sweep the doubleheader as they lost the second game by a 6-5 final score.

The Fireflies scored four runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead.

Badamo had not allowed four or more runs since his second start of the season. After a no decision, Badamo has not lost a game in his last four starts. Missigman pitched a scoreless sixth but, could not finish it in the seventh. He allowed a run to tie the game and left with runners on first and second with two outs. Davis came in to try to get the game to extra innings again. Davis allowed a walk to load the bases and that was followed by a walk-off hit by catcher Matt Winn. Missigman had allowed just one run in his last 17.2 innings before allowing two in this game.

Tuesday afternoon it was announced that David Thompson, PJ Conlon and Vinny Siena were selected to represent the Fireflies in the South Atlantic League All-Star game.

St. Lucie had an off day. They will start a four game series against Dunedin on Wednesday. 

DSL Mets1 and DSL Mets2 were postponed due to rain. They are both scheduled to play a doubleheader on Wednesday.
