Triple-A and Double-A both have their All-Star Break until Thursday
High-A League
Clearwater Threshers 9 (Philadelphia 50-37), St. Lucie 8 (44-41) Box Score
- Tomas Nido C 2 for 4, .303/.343/.448
- Wuilmer Becerra DH 2 for 4, 2B, BB, K .319/.347/.397
- David Thompson 3B 2 for 4, 2 RBI, K .263/.364/.263
Becerra with another extra base hit. Nido is quietly putting up a very good year in high-A, and solidifying a good spot on the top catchers list.
- Scarlyn Reyes RHP 3 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 3 K 6.89 ERA
- Paul Paez LHP 2.1 IP, K 0.67 ERA
Reyes cannot find consistency as a starter, and links a couple great starts with another outing like yesterday’s. Paez should be moved up, he’s dominating this level. Corey Taylor blew the game with a run allowed in the eighth and then the ninth.
Short-Season-A League
Brooklyn Cyclones 6 (11-13), Aberdeen Ironbirds 5 (Baltimore, 10-14) Box Score
- Gene Cone LF 2 for 5, RBI, BB .254/.333/.299
- Peter Alonso 1B 1 for 5, 2B, K .231/.231/.385
- Jacob Zanon CF 2 for 4, RBI, SB, BB .208/.292/.286
- Brandon Brosher C 2 for 4, 2 HR, 4 RBI, BB .232/.302/.464
Brooklyn came back from behind to score two in the ninth and another in the eleventh.
- Nabil Crismatt RHP 5 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, 8 K 3.94 ERA
- Joel Huertas LHP 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 5 K 7.54 ERA
Crismatt rebounded nicely after giving up three in the first inning. Huertas earned the win despite giving up the lead. Joseph Zanghi, a flamethrowing righty signed as an undrafted free agent, struck out the side to close out the game.
Rookie League
Danville Braves 7 (8-10), Kingsport Mets 2 (7-11) Box Score
- Ian Strom CF 1 for 3, 3B, BB, 2 K .270/.386/.351
- Walter Rasquin 2B 1 for 4, RBI, SB, 2 K .216/.326/.270
- Cecilio Aybar SS 1 for 2, BB, 2 SB, K .375/.444/.375
Aybar is a 70 type runner, signed at 20, with intriguing skills, but is much more raw than most players his age.
- Jordan Humphreys RHP 5 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K 4.71 ERA
- Colin Holderman RHP IP, H 0.00 ERA
Humphreys has his worst start of the year. Holderman, 2016 9th rounder, has kept the opposition scoreless in relief. He will likely revert to starting next year in Columbia.
Complex Level Rookie League
GCL Mets 3 (9-6) GCL Astros 2 (7-9) Box Score
- Desmond Lindsay CF 0 for 2, BB, 2 K
- Ranfy Adon PR-CF 0 for 1, .200/.288/.378
- Juan Uriarte C 0 for 4, 4 K .158/.195/.184
Lindsay finally returned and played five innings before being lifted for a pinch runner, Ranfy Adon. He is due to join Brooklyn later this week. Uriarte is a little too young for this level so far. Thankfully he has some time.
- Kyle Regnault LHP 2 IP, H, ER, BB, 5 K 4.50 ERA
- Sixto Torres LHP 5 IP, 5 H, BB, 5 K 1.93 ERA
Regnault is rehabbing an injury and should return to the Binghamton rotation or pen soon. Torres has been excellent as a starter this year with 16 strikeouts in 14 innings.
DSL Mets1 12 (15-16), DSL Cubs 4 (15-17) Box Score
- Hansel Moreno 3B 2 for 5, 3B, 2 RBI, SB, K .271/.349/.375
- Gregory Guerrero SS 0 for 4, BB, SB, 2 K .282/.368/.308
Guerrero has shown some speed this year with his sixth stolen base of the year, but still hasn’t learned how to leverage some of that dormant power.
- Ramon Laguere RHP 4.2 IP 6 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 K 2.97 ERA
A pitcher from an unconventional baseball place like Haiti always intrigues me.
DSL Mets2 10 (13-19), DSL Rays2 5 (12-19) Box Score
- Shervyen Newton 3B 1 for 4, 2B, BB, K .227/.485/.409
- Andres Gimenez SS 3 for 5, 2 2B, 3 RBI .353/.461/.519
- Edinson Valdez RF 1 for 5, RBI, K .339/.405/.404
- Raul Beracierta CF 1 for 5, HR, 2 K .337/.404/.438
Gimenez returned from an undisclosed injury in fashion, hitting his tenth and eleventh doubles of the year. Beracierta, who is young, but powerful, hit his first professional homer. I guess you can say Newton is the Dutch connection…

Not sure who is struggling more, Vlad Guerrero or his cousin Gregory, but Giminez has shown to be very impessive.
Further up the line, there are some players still doing well, like Thompson in Columbia and Sienna and some like my buddy Ivan Wilson that may never make it. At what point are players considered legitimate prospects, AA or maybe AAA?
Ivan Wilson Retired and Siena and Thompson are both in St Lucie
Lindsey lifted for a pinch runner, anything we should read into about that? Also waiting for Brooklyn team to come together with all the talent currently on the roster. In your opinion Teddy, which milb Mets team has the most talent on the roster?
Wilson retired? Already??? Wow!
Easing him back into games, is returning from hammy. As Teddy said schedule is for him to be in Brooklyn soon.
I’d say Brooklyn is the most interesting with the infield, rotation, and Lindsay.
Yeah, decided to retire and go into football.
Planck signs! Holderman, Cleveland, and Planck all Mets. It was thought the Mets could only sign 2 of 3 tops.
