The Mets are looking to follow up their 2024 draft class, which has hit the ground running in the Mets’ farm system, with another strong group. The team had their draft picks heavily penalized by the league’s competitive bargaining agreement, leaving the Mets with just two selections in the first 105 picks on Friday night: 38th overall and 102nd overall.

The Mets do not own their second-round selection in the 2024 draft as compensation for signing Juan Soto during the offseason. The Mets do, however, have all of their other draft picks and did not receive any additional compensation. In total, the Mets will finish with 19 selections and have a bonus pool of $5,465,900 to spend on their selections. Their bonus pool is the second smallest in all of baseball, finishing just ahead of the Yankees. As a reminder, the total value of the slot value of their draft selections is allocated to the team’s bonus pool. As of the end of the night on Sunday, there were no reports of any deals between the Mets and their draftees. The signing deadline is July 28th at 5 PM Eastern.

Of note, the Mets selected Oklahoma State OF Carson Benge with the 19th overall selection last year, and later took Mississippi State’s Nate Dohm in the third round. Both picks have been impressive with the Mets and drummed up considerable interest among fans and prospect evaluators.
