It was a bounce-back outing for top prospect Brandon Sproat, who fired seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts while allowing just five baserunners. With the Mets’ rotation struggling and rosters set to expand tomorrow, Sproat could be the next man up.
Francisco Alvarez also appeared in another rehab game with Triple-A Syracuse. He went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts as their starting designated hitter.
