The Salt River Rafters improved 7-6 after beating the Peoria Javelinas by a 5-2 score in the Arizona Fall League last night. Dominic Smith who had been leading the league in average and on-base percentage has cooled off a little, he was 0 for 3 with a sacrifice fly in yesterday’s game. He has only one hit in his last four games but thanks to his torrid start he is still slashing .412/.533/.588 in 34 at bats.

Jeff McNeil got the start at shortstop and had a rough night going 0 for 2 with a hit by pitch while committing two errors. He is now batting .231/.310/.231 and has played short, second base and third base already in the AFL.

Beck Wheeler picked up the win for the Rafters going two innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out four batters. He moves to 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA and seven strikeouts in five innings pitched.
