Yesterday the Salt River Rafters beat the Surprise Saguaros 4-1 behind great pitching that allowed just three hits. Two Mets farmhands chipped it to the strong pitching performance with Mike Hepple and Kyle Regnault each spinning a perfect frame. Regnualt recorded two strikeouts while Hepple retired his three batters via groundballs.
Kyle now has a 2.70 ERA and 0.60 WHIP in four appearances (3.1 IP) this fall. Mike is sporting a 4.15 ERA and 1.85 WHIP in four appearances (4.1 IP) for the Rafters.
Dominic Smith was 0 for 1 with three walks and a run scored with two of the free passes coming against a lefty. He is now slashing .400/.542/.571 in 11 games and has hit out of the number three spot in the lineup every game.
L.J. Mazzilli made his second start for the Rafters at second base going 0 for 4 with a strikeouts, he is now 1 for 8 since being added to the roster.
With Murphy leaving an almost foregone conclusion, is Mazzilli’s late addition meant to make up time from the suspension and possibly compete with Reynolds and Muno for that frequent flyer MI role in 16?
