Alejandro De Aza Stretches Hitting Streak To Four Games

For the second straight game Alejandro De Aza batted second and played right field for the Toros del Este in the Dominican League playoffs. De Aza went 1 for 4 for the Toros in their 2-0 loss to the Estrellas de Oriente, they are now 2-5 in the round robin playoffs. He is hitting 6 for 22 with two runs scored, and two walks. He has reached base safely in five of six games with the Toros and has hit in four straight.

Rainy Lara pitched 2.2 innings in relief for the Leones del Escogido giving up one run on four hits and a walk with one strikeout. Leones lost to the Tigres del Licey 14-3 pushing them to 3-4 in Dominican postseason play.

The Criollos de Caguas won their second straight game to open up the Puerto Rican round robin playoffs. Johnny Monell caught and batted fifth going 0 for 2 with two walks and a run scored. Monell was 3 for 5 in the first playoff game after hitting .268/.388/.423 during the regular season.

Xorge Carrillo went 1 for 3 with a RBI double for the Aguilas de Mexicali who beat the Charros de Jalisco 4-3 to take a 3-0 series lead in the best-of-7 series. He is 4 for 9 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored in the playoffs.
