Arizona Fall League (AFL)

Scottsdale Scorpions (3-0) 3, Glendale Desert Dogs (0-3) 2 Box Score

With Mets prospects comprising one-third of the line-up, the Scorpions racked up thirteen hits in the game. However, they could only muster three runs on the day as they struggled to cash in with runners in scoring position going 2-for-12 in those situations. Carpio, Sanchez, and Gimenez each had one hit in the game but they too struggled with RISP opportunities as they combined to go 1-for-5 with the one hit failing to drive in runner from second base.

Defensively, Gimenez and Sanchez each only got one opportunity, but, they both made good plays with their chance. In the top of the third inning, Gimenez was able to handle another sharp ground-ball (much like the one on Wednesday) and threw the runner out at first.

In top of the fifth inning with runners on second and third base and two outs, Ali Sanchez was able to block a piece of a REALLY wild pitch to his right side, bounce up, corral the ball, and throw out the runner from third trying to score to end the inning.

The Scorpions will have Mets left-handed pitching prospect David Peterson on the mound to face the Desert Dogs again today as try to keep their perfect record intact.
