Arizona Fall League (AFL)

Glendale Desert Dogs (11-14) 7, Scottsdale Scorpions (12-13) 2 Box Score

  • SS Andres Gimenez: 3-for-4, 2 R, HR(2), RBI(15), K | .355 AVG/.984 OPS

Gimenez was a one man wrecking crew yesterday for the Scorpions accounting for the team’s only two runs and three of the team’s five hits on the day, including his second home run of the season. With the three hit performance, Gimenez is now tied for third in the AFL for OPS behind only Minnesota’s Royce Lewis and Oakland A’s Greg Deichmann. Gimenez is also fifth in the league in RBI’s, seventh in Hits, and eighth in Total Bases.

Dominican Winter League (LIDOM)

Toros del Este (2-6) 7, Leones del Escogido (7-1) 6 Box Score

  • RHP Adonis Uceta: 0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 K, 1 BB, Blown Save | 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.60 WHIP
  • RHP Tim Peterson: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 K, 2 BB, Win | 1-0, 3.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP

The Toros del Este handed the Leones their first loss of the season thanks to a four run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning off of relievers Dalbert Siri and Adonis Uceta. Siri was called on to maintain the Leones 6-2 lead at the time but he allowed a run to score a single, HBP, and two walks, leaving the bases loaded with two outs for Uceta. Working back-to-back days for only the second time all year, Uceta was saddled with the blown save as he allowed all three inherited runners to score on walk and a two run single to tie the game up at 6-6.

On the other side of the field, Tim Peterson pitched a scoreless ninth and tenth innings while racking up three strikouts to keep the game tied at six. The Toros would walk it off on an RBI single in the bottom of the tenth inning to get Peterson his first win of the LIDOM season.
