The Leones del Caracas lost last night ending their season despite a good night from Asdrubal Cabrera with the bat. He was 2 for 4 with a solo homerun in the top half of the seventh inning off former Met farmhand Deolis Guerra. He was then ejected in the bottom half of the inning by the homeplate umpire after voicing his displeasure about a bat flip. Cabrera finishes the Venezuelan postseason hitting .318 and was 7 for 18 when he played shortstop.
You can see the Cabrera homerun here starting at 55 seconds. He was also part of a triple play that was started by Jairo Perez (former Met minor leaguer) making a sliding catch in left field and throwing to second to get Cabrera before the second base throws to first for the final out.
Johnny Monell was 2 for 4 with two doubles, run batted in, and a walk last night for the Criollos de Caguas (2-3) as they fell 10-3 to the Indios de Mayaguez (3-2). Monell is now hitting .400 during the Puerto Rican Winter League playoffs.
T.J. Rivera is also hitting .400 during the Puerto Rican postseason play after going 2 for 5 with a RBI and two runs scored last night for the Indios.
Wuilmer Becerra returned to the starting lineup for the Tigres de Aragua last night after sitting the last two nights. He went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts lowering his playoff average to .294. The Tigres beat the Bravos de Margarita 12-6 forcing a Game 7 tonight in the first round of the Venezuelan Winter League playoffs.

what’s the story?
Rivera
27 years old is a 318 lifetime hitter.
Why haven;t they moved him up faster?
Should the Mets call him up?

Slider bat speed plays well in the minors, with a questionable glove at SS. He was available in the rule 5 and no one touched him even with all the needs for MI in baseball
I agree with everything you but still think he would have gotten a chance by know if he wasn’t undrafted. The fact that no one took him in Rule 5 is speaks volumes though.
