Jon Niese made his return to the mound today after an injury scare. The 27-year old Niese threw 35 pitches across two innings. He would struggle in the first, allowing four straight hits, but would set down the side in order in the second frame. Adam Rubin of ESPN
Mike Puma of the New York Post spoke with Mets bullpen hopeful Jose Valverde recently about his opportunity to stick with the Mets. Valverde, an 11-year veteran and two time NL saves leader had some interesting things to say about his approach when it comes to making the team.

Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada was scratched from today’s game versus the Cardinals with tightness in his left hamstring. The injury isn’t considered serious, and the Mets pulled Tejada from the lineup as a precaution. Anthony Seratelli will start in his place. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into something more serious
