Lefty pitching prospect Steven Matz pitched very well in his first spring action today. Matz entered the game in the bottom of the fourth inning in relief of starter Daisuke Matsuzaka. He would allow just a single in the inning while striking out two batters– including All-Star catcher Yadier Molina on just three pitches.
Although he has no chance of making the team, after losing almost three years of his career due to injury it’s great to see him out there. He’s an immensely talented pitcher and one of the few southpaw prospects in the system.
