Like an Atlantic City casino dealer Binghamton Mets manager Pedro Lopez keeps shuffling his roster cards trying to come up with a hand that’s all aces.

Injury and changing personnel have sent Lopez and his B-Mets into a recent tailspin. Since May the 30th and heading into Tuesday nights double-header in Akron, Binghamton was 2-8, making the B-Met doubleheader sweep of the Rubber Ducks two of the most important wins of the season.

It was the B-Met bats that made the difference on Tuesday. Left fielder Kyle Johnson sent a message that the Binghamton bats might be alive, smashing the third pitch of the game deep over the left field wall for a solo home run. After a strikeout, Kevin Plawecki punched a single to right field to start a string of six consecutive B-Met hits. Dustin Lawley’s bases clearing double, followed by a two-run home run blast from center fielder Darrell Ceciliani spotted B-Met pitcher Angel Cuan with a six-run cushion.

Cuan pitched a seven inning complete game, allowing five hits and striking out four without walking a batter.
Cecilini’s HR was his first of two four-baggers during the contest. Four B-Mets had two hit games; Plawecki, Matt Clark, Jayce Boyd and Ceciliani.

One big inning lifted Binghamton again in the nightcap. With the score tied 3-3 in the B-Met fifth, Plawecki lined a two-run single to start the offensive assault. The two runs batted in gave the Binghamton catcher 40 on the season. Plawecki’s two-hit game raised his batting average to a sparkling .344.

Lawley blasted his 6th HR of the year and scored two times for Binghamton. Travis Taijeron went 2-4 with a double and a pair of RBI’s for the B-Mets.
