Baseball America‘s Top 100 rankings were released, and there were six Mets prospects who were ranked. Those players were Francisco Álvarez (9th), Kodai Senga (16), Brett Baty (33), Kevin Parada (50), Alex Ramirez (92), and Jett Williams (98).

Álvarez and Baty are no surprise at the top of this list, as they both near their time as an everyday pro. Both made their MLB debuts last season, and the hope is that they can be impact players in 2023. As a result, this could be the last cycle where we see them as prospects.

Senga is on this list because he will be a rookie by MLB standards thereby making him technically a prospect. These rules also mean he will be eligible for the National League Rookie of the Year, and we could see him win the award as he projects to be a strong MLB starter.

Ramirez, who only made one notable top 100 list to start 2022, enters this season as a consensus top 100 player on the strength of his strong season in St. Lucie and Brooklyn. Scouts continue to believe he projects as a center fielder long-term, and the bat continues to progress as he moves through the minor league levels.

Now, for 2023 draft selections, Parada is entering his first full season as a professional and will do so as BA’s 50th best prospect. In just 40 at bats last year, he racked up four extra-base hits, including his first professional homer. He figures to start the year in Port St. Lucie with the Low-A affiliate.

Williams was ranked 98th after being selected 14th overall by the Mets in the 2023 draft. His frame is small but compact with power, and his agility and speed pop off the charts. He posted a .803 OPS during his first professional stint, and stole all six of the bases he attempted.

With these rankings, we see just how much the Mets have continued to develop their farm system. Moreover, we are starting to see them have talent more evenly spread across the organization with players like Álvarez and Baty in Triple-A Syracuse and the newer prospects in Parada and Williams likely to start their seasons for Single-A affiliates.
