The Binghamton Rumble Ponies have released their Opening Day roster, mere hours before their first game in New Hampshire. Manager Kevin Boles, in his first season with the organization, will oversee the following players

Pitchers (13): Matt Blackham, Michael Gibbons, Harol Gonzalez, Zack Jones, Anthony Kay, Chris Mazza,  Stephen Nogosek, David Peterson, Ryder Ryan, Joshua Torres, Adonis Uceta, Stephen Villines, Joe Zanghi

Catchers (2): Patrick Mazeika, Ali Sanchez

Infielders (5): Arismendy Alcantara, Andres Gimenez, Sam Haggerty, Michael Paez, Will Toffey

Outfielders (5): Barrett Barnes, Kevin Kaczmarski, Jason Krizan, Braxton Lee, Dario Pizzano

Behind Columbia, this Binghamton team is the second-most prospect-heavy team from the start. Kay, tonight’s starter, and Peterson will provide significant firepower in the rotation, while Gimenez, who played in 37 games with the Rumble Ponies in the second half of 2018, is sure to be one of the most exciting young players in the Eastern League.

Between Ryan, Torres, Villines, and Zanghi, the bullpen is sure to be worth keeping tabs on as well.

There are also a fair amount of new members of the organization on the roster. Jones, Alcantara, Barnes, Krizan, and Pizzano were signed as minor league free agents over the offseason, while Mazza and Lee were selected in the minor league phase of December’s Rule 5 Draft. Additionally, Haggerty was acquired from the Cleveland Indians in the Kevin Plawecki trade.

After a seven-game road trip, Binghamton plays their home opener next Thursday against Erie.
