Mets prospect Brett Baty has been named the Player of the Week for the first week of the Arizona Fall League season.

Baty, 21, has done nothing but impress since the Mets selected him in the first round of the 2019 Draft.

In the opening week of the AFL, the Texas native showed he belonged among baseball’s best prospects. Baty batted a robust .444/.565/.722 with three doubles, a triple, and three RBIs in six games.

After entering the 2021 season as MLB’S 94th ranked prospect, the left-handed slugger has seen his stock rise to No. 45 in MLB’s most recent rankings update.

Like fellow top prospect Mark Vientos, whose primary position is also at third base, the Mets were giving Baty plenty of reps in left field and it will be interesting how this evolves going forward.

This season, between AA Binghamton and A+ Brooklyn,  Baty batted a combined .282/.382/.473 with 22 doubles, 12 home runs, and 56 RBIs in 385 plate appearances.
