Salt River improved their record to 7-11 after a 2-0 victory on Thursday. Brian Metoyer was the only Mets pitcher who contributed to the shutout, throwing a scoreless seventh inning.

  • RHP Brian Metoyer: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K

On the other side of the ball, Brett Baty and Hayden Senger started at third base and catcher, respectively.

  • Brett Baty 3B: 3-4, .276 AVG/781 OPS
  • Hayden Senger C: 0-3, K, .207 AVG/565 OPS

Baty had one of his best games of the Fall, recording three line drive singles and driving in one of Salt River’s two runs.

After grounding out in the first of his four plate appearances, he hit a line drive single to left, then lined another hit to left to extend his team’s lead to 2-0.

In his last at-bat, he lined a single to right that Eric De La Rosa tried to score on but was thrown out at the plate.

Defensively, Baty didn’t make any errors. He started a 5-4-3 double play and caught a pop-up in foul territory.

Senger’s night wasn’t as memorable. He batted three times before getting double-switched out of the game after the top of the eighth inning. He grounded out, struck out, and flew out in those three at-bats.

Ronny Mauricio‘s team, Tigres Del Licey, did not play on Thursday, but there was other DWL news relevant to the Mets.

Recently reinstated infielder Robinson Cano will make his 2021 DWL debut with Estrellas Orientales on Wednesday, November 10th.
