The Salt River Rafters fell to 7-17 after they lost to the Mesa Solar Sox in a 15-10 slug fest. Brian Metoyer was the only Mets player who pitched for Salt River.

Metoyer recorded four outs without allowing any runs. While he pitched 1.1 scoreless, it was an uneven performance as he walked one batter, hit two batters, and balked

  • RHP Brian Metoyer: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

Offensively, Brett Baty started at third base and batted fifth. He recorded another impressive performance at the plate.

  • Brett Baty 3B: 3-4, BB, K, .276 AVG/766 OPS

Baty’s three singles included two grounders, one to centerfield and one to right. His third was a line-drive RBI single to right field. Baty showed heads-up base running by advancing to second base on the throw home.

Baty’s run scoring hit cut Mesa’s lead to 13-10 in the bottom of the eighth inning. His other two plate appearances included a walk and a strikeout.

Defensively, Baty handled all three defensive chances he got without making any errors. All three chances were grounders, one of which was a 5-4 fielder’s choice.
