The Salt River Rafters (7-13) were crushed in Glendale by the Desert Dogs, 11-2. Brett Baty and Wilmer Reyes started for the Rafters. Reyes was at second base and Baty was the designated hitter. Carlos Cortes was originally penciled in to play left field but was a late scratch.

2B Wilmer Reyes: 1-for-3, BB, R, .226/.339/.641

Baty, 21, roped a first inning double off the right field wall to start his evening. His fourth double of the season and his sixth extra base hit overall. He also drove in one of the two Rafter runs, scoring Wilmer Reyes from third on an RBI groundout in the 9th.

Reyes, 23, continues to get a lot of playing time in the desert. He reached base twice on both a single and a walk. He also made a sparkling defensive play at second base in the 8th inning, diving to his right and throwing out the runner at first base with a throw from his knees.

No pitches from the Mets organization threw in Saturday’s game.

The Rafters have two more weeks of games to play starting Monday.
