New York Mets minor league pitching coach/coordinator Carter Capps has left the organization to accept a job as the pitching coach for Seattle University. Capps was hired in this role by the Mets in January of this year.

Capps, 31, is returning to Seattle, the same city where his professional career began. In his statement on Twitter, Capps said, “I also want to thank the #Mets for the amazing experience. I met some great people and loved my time there, but I’m excited to be

home with family in Seattle!”

Before joining the Mets organization, Capps was a trainer and analyst at Driveline. Driveline founder and former Cincinnati Reds pitching coach Kyle Boddy had some discussions about joining the Mets organization in September, but it did not get very far.

In a busy offseason, new Mets general manager Billy Eppler has to hire a new mini league pitching coordinator. An interesting note is he hired former Mets reliever Buddy Carlyle for that role when he was with the Los Angeles Angels. What direction Eppler goes now is anyone’s guess.
