The 51s won their fourth straight against Salt Lake, and fifth in a row overall, as they beat the Bees 8-4 Friday night. Dillon Gee got the start for Las Vegas and gave up only single runs in the second and fifth innings before getting tagged for two more in the sixth. His final line was 6 innings pitched, 4 runs (4 earned), on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Fortunately, Gee’s teammates backed him up scoring 8 runs on 11 hits. Third baseman Alex Castellanos racked up 3 of those hits, driving in 4 runs. But left fielder Brandon Allen got it started, hitting a two-run home run in the second to give the 51s the lead. All but one hitter in the lineup had at least one hit and scored one run.

After scoring 2 in the second, Vegas scored 2 more in the third. Second baseman Dilson Herrera led off with a double and was chased home on a single by shortstop Wilfredo Tovar. Tovar moved to second on a throwing error by the Salt Lake centerfielder. Designated hitter Anthony Recker flied out, but Tovar was able to move to third. Castellanos singled to drive in Tovar.

Back to back doubles by Cory Vaughn and catcher Dan Rohlfing started the fourth to bring in one more. After a walk, a sac bunt, and another walk, Salt Lake starter Alex Sanabia was relieved by Ryan Verdugo. Castellanos then dunked a ball into right to drive in Rohlfing.

In the sixth, Recker singled with one out and came home on a home run to left by Castellanos to complete the scoring. The four two-run innings helped Gee get the win, his third since being reassigned to Vegas by the Mets in late June. Chase Huchingson, John Church and Scott Rice pitched a scoreless inning each to finish off the victory.

Castellanos was 3 for 4 with a home run, and 4 RBIs, making him 8 for his last 10. Allen was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBIs.
