Minor League Baseball announced on Tuesday that Mets’ prospects right-handed pitcher Christian Scott and infielder Luisangel Acuña were named Double-A All-Star for the 2023 season.

Scott, 23, was a fifth-round pick by the Mets in the 2021 MLB Draft out of the University of Florida. After starting the season in High-A Brooklyn, Scott quickly earned a promotion to Double-A after a dominant six starts for the Cyclones. He stayed with Double-A Binghamton for the remainder of the year, throwing 62 innings over 12 starts with a 2.47 ERA. He struck out 77 batters and walked just eight.

Scott’s 0.84 WHIP in Double-A was the lowest among any pitcher with at least 50 innings pitched at the level, tied with fellow Met Mike Vasil, who made 10 starts for Binghamton before being promoted to Triple-A Syracuse in June. Scott’s 0.86 WHIP across all levels in 2023 was the lowest among any pitcher, with at least 70 innings pitched, with the next-closest being 0.97. His 28.4 K-BB% also ranked first among the 661 pitchers that pitched at least 70 innings this season.

Acuña, 21, was acquired by the Mets at the trade deadline in the deal that sent Max Scherzer to the Texas Rangers. He is listed as an All-Star in the Texas League, which is the league in which the Frisco RoughRiders, the Rangers’ Double-A team, plays. In 84 games for the RoughRiders before the trade, Acuña hit .315/.377/.453, a .830 OPS, with seven home runs, 25 doubles and two triples. He also stole 42 bases in 47 attempts.

Acuña struggled a bit after he arrived in Binghamton, hitting just .243/.317/.304, a .621 OPS, over 37 games after the trade. He hit two home runs and three doubles while stealing 15 bases in 20 attempts. Overall, his season slash line across both Double-A leagues finished at .294/.359/.410, a .769 OPS. Acuña is MMO’s No. 1 prospect in the Mets organization, and Scott is No. 13.

The pair join Paul Gervase as Mets prospects to be named to MiLB All-Star teams. Gervase was named a High-A All-Star after posting a 1.72 ERA in 47 innings for the Cyclones. He was promoted to Double-A in August and had a 3.60 ERA in 10 innings to finish out the season.
