The Columbia Fireflies, the new Low-A affiliate of the New York Mets, announced on Friday that their inaugural season games will be broadcast live on WGCV 620 AM and 105.1 FM.

All 140 South Atlantic League games will feature Kevin Fitzgerald behind the microphone, as he joins the organization as the first director of broadcasting and media relations. The Syracuse graduate joins the Fireflies after a year with the Fort Wayne TinCaps, the Low-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

The news comes in the midst of a long timeline of announcements leading up to the 2016 season. On January 28, 2015, Columbia dignitaries broke ground on Spirit Communications ballpark, and the team officially partnered with the Mets on May 21, 2015. The nickname ‘Fireflies’ was revealed after a “Name the Team” contest on August 4, 2015. The 2016 schedule was released two weeks later, and on January 27, they revealed the team’s uniforms and coaching staff, which includes Jose Leger, Joel Fuentes, and Jonathan Hurst.

Spirit Communications Park is still undergoing construction to be ready for the first home game on April 14th, here you can watch the field grass being installed.

The Fireflies open the 2016 season on April 7, against the Charleston River Dogs.
